Toffs
Starter: £4.95 Main meal: £12.95 Wine: £3.95
The Georgiou brother's legendary fish and chip shop that everybody in Muswell Hill loves. Delicious take-away food and if you choose to, a nice place to actually enjoy a sit-down meal. They've stacked up enough awards to cover their entire front window and the portions are pretty huge so finishing a large cod and chips can be quite the challenge!

The chips are often soggy and extremely greasy. The sausages are cheap and nasty. This is Muswell Hill, up your game Toffs!
But the fact is, there's no other fish and chip shop about, so until another comes to town, people will still go.

I find all these "positive" reviews utterly bizzare. You only have to walk in to see the warmer cabinets full of PRE-COOKED battered fish waiting too be sold to know that its not going to be good. Last lot was pretty inedible. Don't believe me? I shall be doing a YouTube video review shortly watch this space.
The Muswell Scott... Hmmm isn't Scotland where they do deep fried Mars bars?? No doubt thats why you think Toffs is "Excellent" I suggest you try some proper Fish & Chips i.e. fresh and cooked to order.
APlender ...Toffs is a prime example of the reason why burger/Kebab/fried chicken joints are eating Fish & Chip shops alive. Expensive and of poor quality about sums them up. :(
BTW want superlative pizza for way UNDER a tenner "Franco Manca" ;)

A local institution that warrants better support than the other reviews suggest. The portions of fish are huge and for a tenner two of you can have a quality takeout to share. Far superior than what you'd get from one of the pizza places for a tenner.

They're definitely milking the whole 'best in Britain' thing but Toffs is a nice, old fashioned (if a little pricey) fish and chip shop that serves consistently good food.

I'm not sure I agree with whoever voted them as 'best fish & chips in Britain', but having said that, they are pretty good. The chips are cooked very well and the fish is nice and fresh. Well worth a visit.

Excellent Fish and Chips, and I have tried a few in my time (I'm from Scotland).
And to the previous reviewer 'Alex', they don't promise the 'Best in Britain', they merely point out that they have been voted such by people who have eaten there. Are you suggesting they should keep that a secret?! What a ridiculous reason to give a negative review!

It's not that the food was bad, it was reasonable. The service too was decent, so normally I would leave a positive review, but when you promise the 'Best in Britain' and don't deliver it somehow leaves a bitter taste.

Not your normal fish and chip shop, here you can sit down and find all sorts of fish such as Sea Bass along side healthy meals. Expensive but worth it for a change.
