La Porchetta
Starter: £3.00 Main meal: £7.00
Rustic Italian restaurant that's a popular haunt for local families. It's noisy, abrupt and buzzing with energy - which seems to be the way the locals like it. It's also phonomenally cheap for what you get, which probably keeps it high in the popularity stakes.

Went for a joint birthday celebration with another family. Atmosphere was great. don't come here if you don't want the noise. Food was cheap and cheerful. We had a great time. It's a good place for a crowd.

I love it here - fantastic food, good fun, brilliant value. It is noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, but weekdays and daytimes are perfect. I particularly recommend the sausage and broccoli pasta, which is DELICIOUS!
Took my mum here on a Saturday night, and it was packed. She's nearly 70 and absolutely loved it! I think you've just got to throw yourself into the spirit of it.
On a further positive note, it's very baby-friendly during the day.

I ordered the mussels to start, which had the most disgusting taste and smelt a bit like a chemical toilet. My boyfriend and I ate only a handful and complained to the front of house lady. She stated the mussels were frozen and not good quality so it depends what taste you are used to! As a result my boyfriend and I got terrible food poisoning and were violently ill. Only thing cooked by the restaurant are the pizzas. Everything else including their desserts come frozen and ready cooked.

It's loud, hectic, brash and about as authentic a pizza restaurant as you will ever find.
Great food, excellent for families and in general just like being in Naples....

Been here loads of times, great food, great value, great for kids OK-ish service and very noisy most of the time. If you want a peaceful romantic night out with excellent service, go somewhere else!

The manager is an aggressive misanthrope, the staff are careless and inattentive, the place is unbelievably noisy with plenty of Neapolitan swearwords whizzing over diner's heads and there's a tendency to play 'Happy Birthday' at ear-splitting volumes. But the pizzas, in particular the calzone, are incredibly good and real value for money. I can't really see a time where i'll eat in again and i can definitely understand why it has negative reviews but I'd still recommend picking up a takeaway sometime and maybe even a one-off dining experience - if only to try out the closest thing Muswell has to a real back street Neapolitan pizzeria in all its gaudy, belligerent glory.

Great food BUT we've been a couple of times before and it's just too loud and hectic. You literally can't hear the person opposite you and once we were in their with our baby and nephews only have the meal ruined by a stupidly loud 'Happy Birthday' song blasting out of the speakers. This caused all the kids to cry hysterically. When we asked the manager to turn it down, or at least warn the kids when it's about to happen, he just dismissed us with a shrug and a "this is the way we do things here." One day they might listen to their customers. Never Again!

Ok look, the pizzas from here are actually pretty nice (most of the time), and generally it's pretty good value.
However the staff (particularly the sleazy manager) are absolutely appalling. Service is next to zero and certainly doesn't make me want to give them my money. When it's busy (most of the time) it's far too loud to hear yourself think nevermind talk to the person next to you. Not to mention the *constant* happy birthday interruptions, which are fun the first couple of times but get tiresome very quickly.
If you want a nice pizza, then grab a takaway but whatever you do don't eat in!

Have to give this one a thumbs up - pizzas are damn good at an even better cost, and if you don't crawl home til gone 11pm on a weekday, it'll still be open. As for the service, well, it's not the best in the world, but it sure reminds me of Italy. I guess if you get it you get it - doesn't bother me. Been there as a couple many a time, with family, and with lots of kids, and it always delivers.

Right. This place gets busy, no doubt about it. It's cheap, it's tasty - BUT - and it's a big BUT. The service is absolutely abysmal. The manager is an absolute bundle of pent up frustration and because of his treatment of customers - rude, boorish, smashing down plates of food - I refuse to go back there. Big no from me.
