Pubs & Bars in Muswell Hill
John Baird
Beer: £3.20 Wine: £4.95
One of the first ever pubs in Muswell Hill and named after John Logie Baird, the inventor of television (a nod to the nearby Ally Pally, the location of the BBC's first live television broadcast). The John Baird is dark wood, specialist ales and also houses a restaraunt at the back called the Black Orchid. It's a welcoming and straight-in-the-eye kinda place, that hosts lots of Real Ale events.

Great for football and definitely the best selection of real ales in the area.

A bit pricey for my liking but great for sports events. Seems to attract a hardcore of Liverpool fans which is always welcome. The Thai food makes for an excellent alternative pub lunch too.

What's not to like? It's a great pub that does football and different channels on different screens, if that's what's required, they serve food and the staff and clientele are all very pleasant and nice.
It is probably for a slightly older crowd (not somewhere young teens will generally hang out) but that's what makes it what it is.

My local is a relaxed place with a fairly diverse clientele. I occasionally pop in by myself for a quick drink and have never felt uncomfortable despite its reputation as a real regulars pub. Whether its a group of female students in the corner, old guys propping up the bar, businessmen on their way home from work, families having a get-together or young lads in for the football, all feel safe and welcome. Great little pub.

Wow, went into this pub for the first time in about 5 or 6 years recently, I genuinely didn't recognise it. The pool table has gone and it is no longer split into two rooms. Very much got rid of its old image. I used to avoid this place, not anymore!
